HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES
Taylor
Ashley Ferguson, daughter of Jeff and Angela Ferguson, will be
graduating from James Bowie High School on May 24,
2007. Taylor
sang in school
choirs 3rd through 10th grades. Several years ago she was a
member
of the Abiding Love Choristers. Taylor
will attend Austin
Community College
in the fall for the
basics, then plans to transfer to Texas A&M for Vet school in two
years.
She wants to keep living at home with family for now, and is currently
looking
for summer work before school starts.
Amber
Jean Karley, daughter of Brent and Sherri Karley will be
graduating from Stephen
F. Austin High School
on May 25, 2007. Amber has
been a three year member of the Austin High Red Jackets Dance Team
where she
served as a company member and on the All-City Dance Team. She recently
was
honored to receive the 2007 Red Jacket Scholarship at the Red Jacket
awards
banquet. During her high school years she has also been a member of
Latin Club,
Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Link Crew and the Volunteer Club. She
also
enjoyed playing on the JV Softball team her freshman year. Amber is a
two year
member of the National Honor Society and served on the Student Council
as a
Senior Class Representative. She also served on the student committee
in the
hiring of the new Austin High principal last spring. Amber is currently
President of R.O.C.K., our Sr. High Youth Group, and has enjoyed
participating
in Group Work Camp, National Youth Gathering and other youth events
through the
years. She was nominated for the Bishop’s Award in 2006. Amber is
employed by
Ergo Wellness where she teaches Fitness classes and works at the front
desk.
She plans to attend Texas Lutheran University
in Seguin, Texas to study Kinesiology and
Pre-Physical
Therapy.
Margaret
Frances Luedecke, daughter of David and Barbara Luedecke, will
be graduating
from James
Bowie High School
on May 24, 2007. Margaret has been a member of Girl Scouts of America
for 12
years and received her Silver Award in July 2004. At Bowie High School
she participated
in Young Life and Math Club for 2 years; Earth Conservation Club for 3
years
and Class Officers Steering Committee her senior year. Margaret
received the
Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Biology her freshman year and
was on
the Honor Roll all four years at Bowie.
On the Varsity Track Team her sophomore and junior years, Margaret was
Academic
All District and a Texas Relays and Regional Qualifier her sophomore
year. She
was a member of the Bowie Volleyball Team, 4 years (2 years on Varsity)
and was
Varsity Volleyball Team Captain her senior year. She was Academic All
District
in Volleyball her junior & senior years, and received All
Tournament Award,
2006 AISD Volleyball Tournament; District 25-5A 1st Team All-District
Volleyball 2006; and Bowie High School Most Defensive Player 2006.
Margaret has
been a member of Austin Juniors Volleyball Club for 4 years. Margaret
is also a
Who’s Who Among Students Recipient and plans to attend Texas State
University
in San Marcos
in
the fall.
Paul
Schattenberg, son of Carl and Lauri Schattenberg, will be
graduating on May 25,
2007, from Stephen
F. Austin High School
where he is
in the top 15% of his graduating class. Recently, he was one of five
seniors
inducted into the Maroon Society at AHS. Students elected to the Maroon
Society
are academically successful, demonstrate leadership, character, and
citizenship,
participate in activities in and out of school, and exhibit positive
peer
influence. At school, Paul is active in Theater, National Honor
Society, Choir,
International Thespian Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and
Student
Council. This year, he earned a seven year All City
Choir member award, was recognized as the outstanding choir senior, and
was a distinguished
senior award recipient in theater. Through Abiding Love
Lutheran Church,
Paul is active in Boy Scouts of America, and a member of Troop 555. In
November
of 2006, he earned the God and Life Award and achieved the rank of
Eagle Scout.
As a scout, he was able to attend various camps, as well as the
National
Jamboree during the summer of 2005. In December 2006,
Paul was one of two recipients to receive the Southwestern Texas Synod—
ELCA
Bishop's Youth Leadership Award. He also participated in the ELCA
National
Youth Gathering held in San
Antonio
during the summer of 2006 and was selected to be a member of the
Festival Choir
at this event. In the fall of 2007, Paul will be attending Texas A&M
University in Galveston. While
attending Texas A&M, he will
be a member of the Corps of Cadets and an engineering major.
