Giving to God:
The Bible’s Good News
About Living a Generous Life

Giving to God is…

OUR DUTY AND DELIGHT

Faithful Living and Faithful Giving

“I know what it is to have little, and I know what it is to have plenty.  In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being well-fed and of going hungry, of having plenty and being in need.  I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”  Philippians 4:12-13

Points to Ponder:

Mark Allen Powell introduces us to the concept of 100% Financial Stewardship.  He states that, “God’s interest extends beyond what we give to church.  God is interested in all of our money – how we make it, what we do with it, and even how we regard it.”  Consider this as you answer the following questions for yourself:

Do you find it awkward to talk about money in church or in other social settings?  Why do you think that is?

How does Abiding Love conduct its stewardship program?  Is there a lot of attention placed on fundraising?  Is any emphasis placed on how you acquire, regard, or manage your finances?

How do you define contentment?  What would it take for you to become financially content?

Is it realistic to use all of your money as God would want?  What changes would you have to make to do that?

What is your motivation for giving financially to God’s mission at Abiding Love Lutheran Church?

Prayer:
Lord God, I ask that you send your Holy Spirit to guide me as I examine my own relationship with financial stewardship.  Help me to open an honest and faithful conversation with you regarding stewardship.  Provide me with the wisdom to use 100% of my finances in ways that are pleasing to you.  May we do all things for your glory.  Amen.
